Very nice long hike (sendero) from El refugio de Juaner to Pico de La Concha to see perfectly over the whole coast!
Warning: Do not try this if it’s too hot or if you doubt your physical condition
Recommendation: Do this if the sky is clear, otherwise the views can be a disappointment.
You will need:
-
- Good pair of sneakers or hiking shoes
-
- Backbag
-
- At least 2 liters of water or aquarius (I recommend) and some snacks
-
- A friend, do not go alone and at least let someone know where you are
-
- Phone and camera
FYI:
-
- You might not get a good signal during the start and the end of the hike because you will be deep between the mountains. Usually when you get higher, the signal is good, I even did a video-call from the peak of La Concha.
-
- The route does not include parts where you really have to climb but you will be tired after doing this
-
- The official route is marked with white and yellow markings, sometimes it can be hard to follow the official route due to lack of markings.
I am in quite a good shape and the whole route is apprx 14 kilometers and time for walking was 4hours 30min there and back. I would recommend to reserve 7-8 hours including the car drive (from Casa Aurora) to the starting point.
Take some snacks also with you and enjoy the views and rest when you reach the peak!
I will add downloadable GPX-file in this post so you can sync it with your Garmin watch or other devices. Also the starting point and the whole route in Google Earth can be seen below.
Enjoy!
